Frutta fresca di stagione, i frutti tropicali, le ciliegie cinesi, i litchi siciliani.

Sicilian lychee is a tropical and subtropical fruit native to southern China (where it is also called "Chinese cherry"), but which is now successfully grown in Sicily, particularly along the Tyrrhenian coast (between Caronia and Milazzo) thanks to its favorable microclimate.

The Sicilian lychee appears to the eye as a small sphere covered with a thin, rigid skin and covered with small protuberances, characterised by a colour that varies from bright pink to deep red. This outer peel is inedible, but it breaks and is easily removed by applying light pressure with your fingers. Inside lies a white, translucent pulp with a firm, fleshy consistency and rich in juice. In the center of the pulp is a single, elongated, shiny, dark-colored seed, which must be discarded. The flavor is distinctly sweet and refreshing, characterized by a very persistent floral aroma that evokes the scent of rose and the taste of Muscat grapes.
